By the 20th week, your pregnancy is halfway. You are only remaining with 20 weeks. In fact, the remaining time could be less because some babies are born even at 37th week. The baby is growing rapidly, and the baby bump is increasing equally fast.
By the 20th week, the baby is growing fast and has reached 6.5 inches and 10 ounces. While most of the organs are approaching maturity, they still have some growing to undergo for complete independence.
The eyes: Though the eyes are closed and will remain closed until 27-28th weeks, the eyebrows continue thickening and become completely visible by close of the 20th week. The movement of the eyes continues more rapidly inside the eyelids. However, these movements are controlled by reflex.
Skin development: Even by this week, the baby’s skin is still very light and has little body fat in some parts. Lanugo hair continues to increase and covers all parts for extra protection and insulation. A more complex skin with multiple layers is seen forming during the 20th week of pregnancy.
Other developments in the 20th week include continued growth of teeth bud, abdominal organs, and joints. Notably, the kicks and movements keep intensifying so that you can feel them easily.
By the 20th week, you will find it more difficult to stand for longer hours because of blood flowing and pooling in the legs. Therefore, take regular breaks to change positions, sit, walk around, and rest. Besides, you should only use low-heeled shoes and always get proper arch support.
